Archival documents are very personal links to our past. Unlike artworks, signs of wear and tear on historic documents are usually considered a valuable part of their history. Stabilization, rather than restoration, is the goal for most archival treatments.

Medium: Oil based printing ink

Condition: Folded in half. Dirty and torn pages with some losses at the bottom edges.

Media: Black and metallic oil based printing inks, writing inks

Condition: Paper support is brittle, rolled and crushed. Stains from adhesive tape used to mend tears.

Media: Iron gall writing ink, red wax seal

Condition: Document folded and will not lay flat.
